Doesn't look like Blizzard will be handling this exclusively. Definitely anxious to hear more news now.

Following on from today's rumor that Infinity Ward is working on a secret project and can't commit to Modern Warfare 3, some more gossip has found its way into our ears that might shed a little more light on the situation. According to our industry sources, Infinity Ward's new game will be an MMO.

We've gotten word that IW is hiring people from Sony Online Entertainment, one of which may be the lead designer of EverQuest II, and that a member of Blizzard employees may also be involved to help Infinity Ward get this new title off the ground. Our Intel seems to indicate that Call of Duty will continue as an annual franchise while IW runs this MMO alongside it.

It's not yet known if this MMO is based in the Call of Duty universe, although word of a CoD MMO has been floating around for a very long time. In any case, this is nothing but speculation at the moment, thought it's very interesting speculation indeed.

"A day may come when the courage of men fails, when we forsake our friends and break all bonds of fellowship, but it is not this day. An hour of woes and shattered shields, when the age of men comes crashing down! But it is not this day! This day we fight! By all that you hold dear on this good Earth, I bid you- stand, Men of the West! "

It's believable. Kotick (Activision CEO and spawn of Satan) has been lusting after MMO type profits with the CoD franchise for a while, and Activision has recently added another dev team to the CoD franchise. With three teams, it was assumed that IW and Trey would continue with the current alternating releases, making it an annual game, while the new team would make something on the side, and an MMO made the most sense given the talk around it. But, seeing as this is a huge gamble, and Activision wants that success really bad, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they felt safer trusting that new idea to IW, which still has a lot of brand loyalty, even after the no dedi files fiasco. The other options would be Trey or a new name no one knows yet, and given the priorities...

I probably wouldn't get it myself, but I'm certain every effort would be made to make it an amazing and enjoyable game.
I could agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.
